Strong in competition: Andreas Böhm wins German Championship of the Scooter Association

Physiotherapist, masseur, aspiring doctor, train dog athlete, trail runner - and father of twins to boot: Andreas Böhm's days are full, to say the least. But that's not enough for him. He also wants to compete in the EUROCUP organised by the German Scooter Association. How does he manage such a daily workload? Well, of course Andreas' days don't have any more hours than other people's. Luckily, we at Antelope can help him a little to save time during training. So he starts the competition well prepared. And it works out much better than expected...

The athlete Andreas wins the German championship of the scooter association after EMS training with Antelope.

Building muscle with EMS: Andreas in competition preparation

Andreas has been familiar with EMS for a long time. As a physiotherapist, he uses it to treat his patients and he knows about the positive effect of electrostimulation. He has only been using the Antelope suit for his own training for a few weeks. How did he start training with it? "I worked my way up to it slowly and started with static exercises," Andreas reports. "Initially, I only used a low intensity, as Antelope recommends. After all, electrostimulation is a strange feeling at first." Once everything was going well, Andreas increased his training. The exercises became more demanding and he also increased the intensity of the stimulation. He soon integrated the EMS suit by Antelope into his normal scooter training. "That's the huge advantage: I'm completely independent with it. In the preparation phase, I train four to six times a week. Of course, I'm happy when I don't have to go to the gym twice for three hours on top of my studies and family. With the suit, I was able to shorten two training sessions to 20 minutes and still have a great effect. That's brilliant, of course."

Into the competition with EMS fitness

Despite all the preparation, the competition in the scooter EUROCUP is still on the brink of cancellation for Andreas. "I had been struggling with quite a cold the week before and was about to cancel my participation. I slept well the night before, had a hot bath, and all the things you do to treat a cold. And then I felt pretty good the next day." The efficient training finally paid off in the competition: "I felt good the whole time. I was resilient, the start was energised. I also realised that I could train my explosive power really well with the suit. I recovered more quickly after an overtaking attack, and I still had power reserves in the final sprint." So did training with Antelope help? Andreas laughs. "The good position speaks for itself. I didn't expect it at all, after initially wanting to cancel. I was surprised that I became German champion."

Recover faster after sport with the EMS suit

As a physiotherapist, Andreas knows how to take care of a stressed body. His tips: make sure you eat well and get enough sleep. He also recommends lymphatic drainage and cold showers. "I leave the suit on straight after training and do the massage. This removes the metabolic waste products produced during the workout more quickly. And I noticed that too: I felt less sore and recovered more quickly."

Physical "construction sites"? Quickly eliminated with EMS

Andreas definitely wants to continue training with EMS. As a physiotherapist in particular, he sees another advantage: "You have a great effect with little effort - for example, if I have a problem somewhere, whether it's an irritation in my back or if my shoulder blade is unstable. The suit provides great support." The background: with EMS, you only train with your body weight. In the short training sessions, the muscles are intensively challenged, but at the same time the construction sites are not burdened by additional weights. Find out more here.
